More than 11 million Americans currently provide unpaid care to people with dementia. This number is growing rapidly as rates of dementia increase with the aging population.

As a communication and cognitive rehabilitation specialist with a background in behavior, I am uniquely placed to provide caregivers with training and education to support the many changes in communication and thinking that occur over the course of the disease.

You will learn skills to reduce the burden of care and increase quality of life and independence through:

  • ​communication and interaction strategies
  • external aids and compensatory tecniques
  • environmental modifications
  • functional cognitive stimulation activities based on the individual's interests
  • behavior management tips

​In keeping with the mission of this practice, this service is person-centered and respects the individual with dementia as well as their interests, values and lived experience. 
Individual caregivers​ may be able to have their training at least partially covered by Medicare should the individual with dementia qualify for direct therapy.
